Libs: Climate Change and Playing God

Bejiing Air: We can see clearly now.....

The Godless government of China is on full display this week....and like all Godless entities, liberalism is the defacto faith of choice. With the opening ceremonies set for tomorrow, two of the most incidious tenets of the liberal world view will be front and center: American induced climate change and the ability of humans to play god.

Climate Change: If you have caught a peek at the air (that's what they call it) in Bejing, you have seen the fruitlessness of America's save the planet efforts. While we have been driving our economy south with a bunch of anti-capitalist environmental efforts, China has been belching mega-tons of carbon into their atmosphere to fund economic growth at all costs. Oh, by the way...that is also OUR atmosphere...since the last time I checked, we shared the planet with them. You would think all of these one world types would have figured that out by now.

Which brings us to a few questions: Should 300 million Americans scuttle their economy in an effort to save the same planet where FIVE TIMES that many folks in China will do whatever it takes to the planet to form a thriving economy? (And while we're at it, let's go ahead and add India to the list of nations much bigger than us who do not suffer from the handicaps of the American left.)

And even in Americans were willing to sacrifice our economy to save the planet, do we really think our convervation efforts will offset the growth efforts of nations many times more populace than ours?

And do we think the Chinese (and Indian) energy producing efforts will be as clean as ours?

Uh, the answers are no, no and no. Hell no. China, one of the ultimate leftist states in the world today, is immune from the attacks of the American left.  That's the same "left" that manages not to notice American exceptionalism in world history except for thinking we are exceptionally evil and bad...and for thinking that by our shrinking our economy, we can save a planet from billions of other folks who will not share in our greenie efforts while they grow their opportunities and economies. So intent to grow their economy is China that the government is actually subsidizing gasoline to its citizens....in stark contrast to our government, which is doing everything it can to suppress energy production at all levels and adding all kinds of direct and in-direct taxation to the price of energy.

But back to that air....air you can "taste." It is not in New York...Los Angeles....Las Vegas. It's not hovering above Wal Mart stores or NASCAR races in red state America. It's not even the famed ozone hole above the Bush family plantation in Kennebunkport Maine. No, it is in the liberal leftist paradise of Bejing. It is right there, endangering olympic athletes unfortunate enough to be in outdoor activities. Right there, on world wide TV, as a lesson of the abject intellectual bankruptcy of the American liberal view on climate change. It will be the silent but obvious conservative message...the only conservative message...on the NBC family of networks for a couple weeks.

PLAYING GOD: But of course, no liberal paradise is complete without the belief that liberal humans ARE god...or can do what god cannot. So the Chinese Communist Government has told its citizens and the world that they can control the weather. Now this is interesting, since humans appear largely not capable of accurately predicting the weather. (Perhaps this works out. You predict it falsely...then claim you CHANGED it post defacto.)   

At this minute, the Chinese government (perhaps something called the Weather Ministry....I don't know...) is working on changing the weather for the opening ceremonies. Now this is tricky. They are predicting....for what it's worth...rain and bad weather for the opening ceremonies. So they are seeding the clouds to change that forecast. So let me see...if their predictions are wrong and their weather changing efforts fail....they'll be able to take credit for doing both correctly. Who says two wongs (couldn't resist that one) don't make a right?  If their forecast is wrong but they do successfully change the weather.....who will the government banish?

This is the problem with playing god. It's tough. (perhaps why the job is currently filled with the same one who had it originally). But the fallacy of attempting to do so is illustrative.

And what is so obviously illustrated by the show going on now in Bejiing is the fallacy of both American made efforts to reduce climate change and the liberal efforts to play god with the climate. Maybe this is why conservatives are generally happier than liberals. It is such a relief to understand we should not, cannot and do not need to....play god.
