Barack Obama will likely name is Vice Presidential running mate Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. He needs to. He needs to change the subject away from the Saddleback disaster as soon as possible. My thought is that he still might take Virginia Governor Tim Kaine...even though Kaine mistakenly gave Obama credit for ending the Russian-Georgian conflict..which did not end and for which Obama was irrelevant.
Meanwhile, McCain will name his running mate on the following Friday, the morning after Obama's acceptance speech, in an effort to change the subject from Obama's nomination. I don't hear as much about Sarah Palin as I'd like to these days...but I'm glad the Romney name has re-emerged and the Lieberman name has died down. That would be more consistent with the Saddleback performance.
Not bad strategy...on the part of both camps. Obama will be in NC on Wednesday, when the announcement is expected...and is scheduled for Virginia the following day. Perfect timing to have day one of this new ticket in Kaine's home state.
